In New Orleans, the tradition for Saint Joseph's Day is to put a large, food covered, altar to Saint Joseph in your home or business. The altars are dedicated to dead loved ones. The public is invited to view the altars and take home lucky fava beans and cookies. Some people even prepare a large dinner for the public. When it's all over, the breads and pastries are given to a homeless shelter and any donations given to charity. Take a little bit of this wonderful tradition around with you with these lovely altar shoes.
